Ontario Virtual Pharmacist
Live at ontariovirtualpharmacist.ca. Pharmacist-led virtual prescribing for UTIs, pink eye, acne, and 16 other minor ailments — medication delivered same-day across the GTA.
Ontario pharmacists can prescribe for minor ailments. Most patients don't know it.
As of 2023, Ontario pharmacists can assess and prescribe for 19 minor ailments — UTIs, pink eye, cold sores, acne, tick bites, insect bites, diaper dermatitis, and more. The scope has since expanded further. But most patients still don't know this is an option, and the few pharmacies offering it require an in-person visit at fixed hours.
The result is a massive system-wide waste: Ontario spends an estimated $100M+ annually on ER visits for conditions that could be handled by a pharmacist. Almost no one is offering these assessments virtually, and no one is pairing them with free same-day home delivery.

Low consult fee × steady volume × pharmacy margin = stacked revenue per visit.
Pharmacist-led consults have a lower cost structure than physician consults, so we can charge less and still run strong margins. The real revenue lift comes from the attached pharmacy sale — because the prescription is filled at PHH and delivered by our own courier network.
Revenue Lines
Consult fee
$30–50 per assessment. Low fee designed to drive steady volume and convert patients into the Photon Health pharmacy network.
Medication margin
~30% gross margin on prescribed medications.
Delivery as retention lever
Free same-day home delivery creates a strong reason for patients to stay in the PHH pharmacy network for future refills and cross-sell.
Public-payer reimbursement (potential)
Ontario has signaled intent to expand public reimbursement for pharmacist minor ailment assessments. Tracking as upside.

PHH owns the fulfillment layer. Pure telehealth players can't match us for end-to-end experience.
Telehealth competitors can connect a patient to a prescriber — but then the prescription is sent to some pharmacy somewhere, and the patient has to go pick it up. We close the loop: assessment to medication delivered to the patient's door the same day, all from inside the Photon Health platform.
Already live, already serving patients
ontariovirtualpharmacist.ca is operational now. Every consult builds the patient base, the brand, and the data moat. Competitors start from zero.
End-to-end fulfillment
Virtual consult to prescription to free same-day home delivery — all inside the Photon Health platform. Competitors stop at the prescription.
Same-pharmacist continuity
Patients can see the same pharmacist across encounters, building relationship — something virtual-first players explicitly lack.
On-demand, not scheduled
No appointment booking. Queue-based, virtual, immediately available. Lower friction than any telehealth competitor.
